Pride is different now because it is defined by corporate and state regulation. We also need to learn from history and where Pride came from in resistance to police repression and seeing out struggles as bound up with struggles against racism, sexism, and colonialism.

Gary's statement on the limitations of the board prioritizing 'management experience' over lived experience (he gave an example of an unhoused queer person who was not selected) was put to the board.

It was the Chair that turned his statement into a question for the candidates.

What can we expect from the new board? not totally sure - there's not been a ton of engagement from the board members elected last year. But at least a couple of them were explicit in their commitments to want to rebuild trust, were clear about their support for Palestine 79/n

Some technical difficulties - so the voting had to stop and will commence after a motion on whether or not to move forward with the voting. 64/n

Overall impressions: a strange meeting (aren't they all, I suppose), many missed opportunities. I do sort of miss the days of in-person meetings where you'd have media present, and where documenting what was happening at #PrideTO was important to so many folks. 78/n

53 in favour, 3 abstain, 2 against. So, we will be voting on the potential Directors. 65/n

The results will include some advance votes (e.g. proxies). Victor (65 for), Viviana (59 for), Anmol (63 for), Grant (51 for), leZlie (61 for), Mariana (61 for). So all are in! 66/n

39 votes in favour of adjourning, and 3 against. That means we lost a whole bunch of members by the end of the meeting. The motion passes. That brings us to the end of the 2023 AGM. 77/n
